Understanding Your Dashboard
- 1
After logging in you land on the Dashboard — it shows active jobs, recent quotes, and slab inventory at a glance.
- 2
Use the left sidebar to navigate between Jobs, Quotes, Templates, Inventory, Nesting, and Settings.
- 3
The AI Copilot chat is available on every page — click the sparkle icon in the bottom-right to ask questions or trigger actions.
- 4
Customize your dashboard widgets from Settings > Dashboard to surface the metrics that matter to your shop.
Inviting Team Members
- 1
Go to Settings > Team and click "Invite Member".
- 2
Enter their email address and choose a role: Admin (full access), Manager (can manage jobs & quotes), or Operator (view-only + template downloads).
- 3
They'll receive an email invitation to create their account and join your workspace.
- 4
You can change roles or remove members at any time from the Team settings page.
Searching for Templates
- 1
Use the search bar on the Templates page to find DXF files by sink model, manufacturer, or dimensions.
- 2
Filter by category (undermount, drop-in, farmhouse, cooktop) or by brand (Kohler, Blanco, Elkay, etc.).
- 3
Each template shows dimensions, cutout type, and a 2D preview before download.
- 4
Pro tip: type a model number like "K-5871" for exact matches.
Understanding Template Formats
- 1
DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) — the industry standard for CNC machines. Works with virtually all bridge saws and waterjets.
- 2
DWG — AutoCAD native format. Use this if your CAD software prefers DWG over DXF.
- 3
PDF — a printable reference for shop floor use. Not for CNC — use DXF/DWG instead.
- 4
All SlabWise templates default to DXF. DWG and PDF are available on Pro plans.
Downloading & Using Templates
- 1
Find your template and click "Download DXF". The file saves to your computer immediately.
- 2
Open the DXF in your CAM software (e.g., SlabSmith, Alphacam, or your CNC's native software).
- 3
Verify the dimensions match your field measurements — templates are based on manufacturer specs, not your specific countertop.
- 4
Run the file through SlabWise AI Verification (Tools > Verification) to check for common errors before cutting.
Photo to Template
- 1
Go to Tools > Photo to Template and upload a photo of the countertop area.
- 2
The AI analyzes the photo to estimate dimensions, detect edges, and identify features like sink cutouts and cooktop areas.
- 3
Review the estimated measurements and adjust if needed.
- 4
Download the generated template as a DXF — always field-verify dimensions before cutting.
Template Verification
- 1
Go to Tools > Verification and upload any DXF file.
- 2
The AI checks for common issues: unclosed polylines, overlapping entities, incorrect layer assignments, and dimension mismatches.
- 3
Review the report — issues are flagged as Critical (will cause CNC errors), Warning (may cause problems), or Info (cosmetic).
- 4
Fix flagged issues in your CAD software and re-verify before sending to the machine.
Defect Mapping
- 1
Go to Tools > Defect Mapping and upload a photo of your slab.
- 2
Select the material type (granite, quartz, marble, etc.) for more accurate analysis.
- 3
The AI identifies cracks, fissures, pitting, staining, and other defects, marking each on the slab image.
- 4
Use the defect map when planning your nesting layout to avoid placing cuts over problem areas.
Value Engineering
- 1
Go to Tools > Value Engineering and enter your project details: material, slab cost per sq ft, total square footage, edge profile, and seam count.
- 2
The AI analyzes your inputs and suggests cost-saving alternatives — different edge profiles, material swaps, remnant usage, and layout optimizations.
- 3
Each suggestion shows the estimated savings so you can make informed decisions.
- 4
Share the report with your customer to justify material choices or propose alternatives.
Machine Compatibility
- 1
SlabWise supports all major CNC bridge saws and waterjets: Park Industries, Breton, Intermac, Northwood, BACA Systems, Donatoni, and more.
- 2
Go to Settings > Machine Profile to select your machine make and model.
- 3
The system automatically adjusts DXF export settings (units, arc tolerance, layer names) for your machine.
- 4
Don't see your machine? Contact us — we can add a profile for any CNC that accepts DXF input.
Post-Processor Setup
- 1
A post-processor converts generic DXF geometry into machine-specific instructions your CNC understands.
- 2
Go to Settings > Machine Profile and select your post-processor from the dropdown.
- 3
Configure output options: tool paths, feed rates, lead-in/lead-out, and bridge tabs.
- 4
Test with a scrap piece before production — every machine has quirks that may need fine-tuning.
Edge Profile Configuration
- 1
Go to Tools > Edge Profiles to browse standard profiles: eased, bullnose, ogee, bevel, dupont, and more.
- 2
Each profile includes a cross-section diagram and recommended tooling.
- 3
When creating quotes, select the edge profile to automatically calculate the per-linear-foot upcharge.
- 4
Custom profiles can be added from Settings > Pricing > Edge Profiles.
Job Tracking
- 1
Create a new job from Dashboard > Jobs > New Job. Enter the customer, job site address, and material details.
- 2
Each job moves through stages: Quote > Template > Fabrication > Polish > Install > Complete.
- 3
Assign team members to each stage and track progress from the Kanban board or list view.
- 4
Attach photos, notes, DXF files, and invoices directly to the job for a complete record.
Slab Inventory
- 1
Go to Dashboard > Inventory to see your current slab yard.
- 2
Add new slabs by entering dimensions, material, lot number, and optionally uploading a photo.
- 3
Use the Slab Scanner (Inventory > Scan) to photograph a slab and automatically detect its dimensions.
- 4
When you run a nesting job, inventory is automatically updated to reflect remnants and used material.
Invoicing & Payments
- 1
Create a quote from Dashboard > Quotes > New Quote. Add line items for materials, fabrication, edge profiles, and installation.
- 2
Send the quote to your customer via email — they can view, approve, and e-sign from their browser.
- 3
Once approved, convert the quote to an invoice with one click.
- 4
Track payment status from Dashboard > Invoices. Overdue invoices are flagged automatically.
Contractor Portal
- 1
Enable the Contractor Portal from Settings > Portal to give your GCs a self-service interface.
- 2
Share your portal link — contractors can submit new jobs, upload field measurements, and check job status.
- 3
You control what contractors can see: job progress, template previews, or full details.
- 4
Portal activity appears in your dashboard so nothing falls through the cracks.
